Football for Peace Rehydrate The Earth campaign launch

Thursday, March 21, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. UK at House of Parliament – Keynote speeches in the IPU Room and symbolic wall activation on Victoria Tower Garden South

The initiative will kick off with the support of Baroness Uddin, Member of the House of Lords of the UK and Co-Parliamentary Champion of the Children’s Parliament, and Anna Firth MP Children’s Parliament.

The UK Prime Minister’s Special Envoy and Deputy on Freedom of Religion or Belief MP Fiona Bruce and David Burrows are backing the initiative.

Former professional footballers Adebayo Akinfenwa, Premier League Oumar Niasse and Brentford FC women’s player Alexandra Nord will participate in the event. Several professional clubs and federations are also supporting internationally.

The ceremony will also display a symbolic handover of power of the outgoing Interim Children’s Parliament Prime Minister Harry Acheampong, 12, to newly elected Interim Prime Minister Clark Dearson, 11, from Saint Pierre School in Leigh on Sea, Essex. Newly elected Child Deputy Prime Minister Naila Seetal, 10, has played a key role in organizing the activity.

As part of the London Most Valuable Peacemakers (MVP) Tournaments program, children from different religions including Jewish, Muslim and Christian will come together after World Water Day (March 22) to play a game on the same team with children from other religious backgrounds to promote unity and camaraderie.
